Men's Therapy

A lot of men show up carrying stress they stopped noticing — it just became normal. Work, performance, the pressure to hold everything together. Some are mid-shift in life and got knocked sideways: a new baby, a divorce, a birthday that landed heavier than they expected. Others bring something more specific — shame around sex, anxiety about performance, the kind that loops back on itself the more you sit with it. Whatever got you through the door, you don't need to perform here, and you don't need the right words either. Most men didn't grow up practicing how to name what they feel, let alone say it out loud to someone else.

By the time you're sitting across from a therapist, you might not have language for any of it yet, and that's fine. A lot of what reads as "nothing's wrong" from the outside is actually years of pushing through, getting it done, being fine because fine was the only option that felt available. That adds up, even when it looks like it's not adding up to anything. This isn't about fixing you, and it's not about getting you to talk more just for the sake of talking.

It's about figuring out what's actually happening underneath the stress, the silence, the patterns you've never spoken out loud — and giving you a place to do that without performing strength, or performing anything else.

Where it usually starts

What actually brings men into therapy

Stress is the single most common reason men try therapy for the first time, more than relationship trouble, more than anything dramatic. If that's all you've got right now, that's enough of a reason to start. Beyond that, men often come in around:

  • Stress that's quietly become your default setting, even when nothing's technically "wrong"

  • A major life transition like new parenthood, divorce, a career shift, midlife, losing someone

  • Performance anxiety, where worrying about sex starts getting in the way of the sex itself

  • Shame around sex, masculinity, or how you think you're supposed to show up

  • Feeling emotionally numb, flat, or disconnected without a clear reason why

  • Patterns you've noticed in yourself but never said out loud to anyone

The anxiety loop around sex and performance

If performance anxiety or erectile difficulty is part of why you're here, you're dealing with something extremely common and very well understood, not a personal failure. Worrying about how your body will respond increases stress, stress narrows blood flow, and that makes the exact thing you're anxious about more likely to happen. Next time, the anxiety is bigger. It's a loop, not a character flaw; most of the time it's psychological rather than physical, especially in younger men. Sex therapy targets that loop directly, not by adding more pressure to perform, but by taking the performance pressure out of the room entirely so your body has room to respond the way it actually wants to.

How sessions actually work

Therapy with me isn't about analyzing you or assigning homework that makes you feel like you're being graded. It's a conversation, about what's underneath the stress, the numbness, or the anxiety, and about building actual tools instead of vague advice to "talk about your feelings more." Some of what we work on shows up immediately in session. Some of it becomes things you try on your own time, at your own pace. If a partner is part of the picture, we can bring them in too; involving a partner is one of the most effective parts of working through performance-related concerns.

Who this is for

This isn't a space that requires you to already have language for what you're feeling, or to fit some idea of what a guy "should" sound like in therapy. I work with men navigating life transitions, men dealing with anxiety or numbness they can't quite explain, men working through sex and performance concerns, and men who are neurodivergent or carrying trauma that shapes how they connect or communicate. However you show up, that's the starting point, not something to fix before we begin.

Investment & Logistics

Sessions are $175 for 50 minutes. I'm private-pay, so I don't bill insurance directly, but I can provide a monthly superbill for you to submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Sessions are available in-person in Austin, TX, or virtually anywhere in Texas.
